In coastal zones, ports are the engines of economic development. Ongoing innovations in transport logistics and the increasing interaction between ports and their environment require ports to adapt and grow accordingly. DHV assists governments, port authorities and private companies in development strategies, feasibility studies and master plans for transformation, extension and ‘greenfield’ projects. Furthermore, DHV supports port authorities and private companies in the design, construction and operation of their facilities and assets.

Port Said East Port master plan, Egypt

Port Said East Port, in the Egyptian city of Port Said, is a new port area directly linked with the economically important Suez Canal. The Port Said Port Authority (PSPA) and the Egyptian government commissioned DHV and its partners to develop a master plan for the new 120 km2 port and industry complex East of Port Said. The extended area should enhance economic growth in Egypt.Read more

Implementation of the Air Quality Directive in six European Seaport cities

The pressure on the ambient air quality in European international seaports is high. International (seagoing) ships, inland shipping, harbor activities, industry and local urban areas each take part in polluting the air. European Union legislation, The Air Quality Directive, sets limit and target values for different pollutants like particulate matter, ozone and nitrogen dioxide. The DCMR Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has assigned DHV to perform an “EU Benchmark Air Quality” for six EU seaport cities. Read more
